Since this was one of the few times that Sakura and Syaoran spent some quality time alone together, I think it makes sense for them getting to know some things they didn't know about the other. In the original series, they mostly spoke about the Clow/Sakura cards. Anything they knew about each other before was through observation (I remembered a time when Syaoran babbled to Yukito about how Sakura looked happy when she's eating) or through friends.

Yes, yes!
Syaoran had a lot of time to quietly observe Sakura and find out her quirks, her cuteness, what she possibly liked and what she didn’t (remember how he made everyone stop telling ghosts stories at the ski loft, after watching her shivering from fear. The boy learns quickly).

Sakura, on the other hand, discovered her feelings for Syaoran more recently, and she started seeing him in a different light only a while ago.

This face in particular

makes me want to hug her! Because it’s such a clear representation of the wonder she’s feeling in that moment, she never experienced anything like that before, so she almost looks at him like he’s a hallucination or something, lol.
That was the first prince-like, kind gesture he did since he came back, and that must have hit some spot in Sakura’s heart called “my prince charming” .
This face really screams “Korette, korette, nante iu kimochi na no?”
